Who we are
Tropang BARYA is the Thriving Resourceful Organization of Passionate Aspiring Nation-Building Generation Bridging Agriculture and Responsible Youth-Led Action — a youth-led community organization rooted in the Siargao Islands.
We come from different barangays, schools and backgrounds, but we share one conviction: young people can be the bridge between agriculture, leadership and lasting community development.
Our story
Our story begins where many youth movements begin — with a group of young people who finished training and asked, "what now?"
After completing the Kapitbahayan youth formation program, our founding members realized that leadership should not end with graduation. They turned their training into action, organizing fellow youth into a movement that serves barangays, advances agriculture and builds community.
Over time, what started as a small group grew into an organization with municipal and barangay chapters, flagship programs like Veggie Haven, and partnerships across the agriculture and youth development community.

Volunteers organized the organization's first outreach, bringing service directly to households.

Organizational philosophy
Our name is a play on words — barya, the small change that everyone carries, and BARYA, the acronym of who we strive to be. Small amounts can build big things when enough people commit them.
That is our philosophy: no contribution is too small. A few hours of volunteer time, a plot of land, a sack of seeds, a shared merienda — compounded with others, they build communities.
Every barya of time, talent and love we give returns to us multiplied — in stronger barangays, prouder youth, and a community that moves as one.
